''Sanitarium'' is a 2013 horror anthology film that was directed by Bryan Ortiz (''Monsters are Real''), Bryan Ramirez (''Figuratively Speaking''), and Kerry Valderrama (''Up to the Last Man''). It received its world premiere at the Miami International Film Festival on March 1, 2013 and was released to DVD on December 31, 2013.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://miami.festivalgenius.com/2013/films/sanitarium_bryanramirez_miami2013 )〕 The film stars John Glover, David Mazouz, and Lou Diamond Phillips as three people whose stories ultimately lead them - and friends - to become patients of a sanitarium. ==Synopsis== The film is set within a sanitarium where Dr. Stenson (Malcolm McDowell) narrates the stories of three different inmates. In the first case (''Figuratively Speaking''), Gustav (John Glover) is an artist that specializes in clay figures, unaware that a friend of his has been spiking his alcohol with drugs. This results in Gustav believing that his creations can speak to him, as they give him various demands. The second case (''Monsters are Real'') focuses on Steven (David Mazouz), a young boy that suffers from catatonic schizophrenia. Suspecting that Steven is being abused, his teacher Ms Lorne (Lacey Chabert) tries to intercede on his behalf. The final case (''Up to the Last Man'') investigates James Silo (Lou Diamond Phillips), a college professor that designs a bomb shelter out of fear that the Mayan apocalypse will wipe out humanity. Plot (Figuratively speaking) It starts out in a large nice museum. The museums owner while in his room isolated with his clay figures, his friend shows the place to tourist and buyers then goes upstairs to checkup and visit his friend in his room. He tells the old man that he has found a buyer who will purchase the figurines and the entire museum in exchange for basically a fortune but the old man is very attached to the clay figurines who speak words to him as the man repeatedly tries to persuade him. As the film progresses he starts to hear voices from the clay figures who tell him to murder the buyer which he does. At the top of the balconies staircase he approaches the buyer looking friendly until he stabs the mans hand with a pair of scissors but the man accidently as he backs away in fear and pain falls over the side of the railing clinging to the edge at the last moment, the old man chooses to help him only to realize he still has to kill him and lets go. He goes back upstairs but the figures give him a new target, his best friends girlfriend who he takes when the his friend leaves the house and when he comes home he finds him preparing her to be hanged while tied up and gagged. The friend begs him not to telling the old man that it was all a plan for him to lose the museum by putting a microphone into the figures and ordering him to commit murder so the bank would finally be sold and he could be rich with his new wife. In anger the old man kicks the stool out from under her and as his friend rushes to save his wife which fails the old man pulls out a revolver and shoots himself in the head.
